Bream Bay Cricket Club

The Bream Bay Cricket Club was established in 2009 and was set up to provide cricket opportunities in the wider Bream Bay area. The long term future of the club is assured with rapid population growth in the Bream Bay area over the next decade.

At present, the Bream Bay CC has:

One Senior Men’s side that plays in the Northland Cricket Association Reserve Grade.

One B Grade side that caters for juniors in Years 5-8. This is a hard-ball, modified competition. This team plays in a Northland wide competition.

Four C Grade teams that caters for juniors in Years 1-6. This is a soft-ball, modified competition. These teams play in the central zone Northland Competition.

Friday Super Smash Cricket at One Tree Point School. This is a ‘free for all’ competition where teams are formed on the day when children aged between Years 1-8 arrive at the school. This starts at 4pm, the games go for an hour and a half and goes from mid-November to mid-December.

The Bream Bay CC has a strong affiliation with Bream Bay College, where boys and girls teams play in local interschool tournaments throughout the season.

The Bream Bay CC home ground is based at Bream Bay College. There are three artificial cricket pitches and two artificial nets.

The club has set up player partnerships with the Maungakaramea Cricket Club. Maungakaramea CC has a team in the Premier Competition and this provides a pathway for players aspiring to play premier cricket, and beyond. The Bream Bay CC also combines with Maungakaramea CC to form the Mid-Western District Sub-Association. These teams play in the Dargaville Shield and Greg Guy Shield competitions throughout the season.

Signature Homes is the Junior Club sponsor. The junior club thoroughly appreciates Craig and Leigh Dackers for their support of junior cricket in the Bream Bay area.

The Bream Bay CC Men’s team supports the Bream Bay Club (5 Princes Road, Ruakaka) and this facility is used for after match hospitality by the Bream Bay CC and away teams.
