Northland Senior Secondary School Girl’s…..

The Northland SSS Girls side is playing in the ND tournament in Papamoa this week and had their fist two games yesterday. Thanks to Mike Borrie for the team updates:

In Northlands first game we came up against a strong Poverty Bay side. Northland batted first scoring 73 (Jess Skelton – 20, Chelsea Trail – 13, Jess Canty – 11). Poverty Bay scored the winning runs in 9 overs for the loss of two wickets (Chelsea Trail 1-18, Lily Borrie 1 – 19). While we lost we played with commitment and learned a lot.

In Northlands 2nd game we came up against a very good Waikato Valley side. Northland won the toss and chose the field. A strong WV batting effort saw them score 178/7. (Chelsea Trail 1-11, Lily Borrie 1 – 20, Neve Anderson 1-23, Jess Canty 1-23). Northland put up a great fight, with a great knock of 69 not out by Chelsea Trail and supported well later in the innings by Amy Brown with 16. Another great learning experience for the team and great to see them recognise areas to focus on for tomorrow.
